This course is the recommended starting point for both Digital & Film photography students who already have an adequate knowledge of the camera.

  • Reflected light and incident light.
  • Hand held light meters
  • Spot meters.

  • Using portable backdrops
  • Using reflectors.
  • The Nature of Light with reference to :
      • (a) The direction of Light
      • (b) The quality of Light
      • (c) The colour of Light
  • Filters for Colour Photography
  • White Balance settings
  • Colour Wheel
  • Correct use of Flash in the following modes:
      • (a) Fully manual
      • (b) Automatic
      • (c) T.T.L Auto
      • (d) Dedicated
  • Types of flash units:
      • (a) Battery operated portables
      • (b) Monoblocs
      • (c) Floor pacs.
  • Flash Guide Numbers
  • Features of a ‘good flash’
  • Bounce flash
